The effect of one man, Jesus. The effect of his word, the effect of his love, transforms us all. He heals, restores, inspires and touches all of us, and this, in turn ripples through our lives, to our families, our friends, our communities, and our country. The effect of this one man creates effective People! HERE THEY ARE!

Back in Ohio in 2004, four-year-old Hannah Turner tagged along with her mother, Doris, to serve Thanksgiving dinner at Toledo’s Cherry Street Mission. Hannah couldn't take her eyes off a frail, very old man. She could see his feet through the holes in his shoes. “He can have my socks,” she told her mom.“They won’t fit,” Doris told her. But Hannah had recognized a need—something both basic and essential—and was determined to meet it. The next day, the Turner family bought 100 pairs of socks and returned to Cherry Street Mission to distribute them. The same elderly man was there. He put on his warm, new socks, looked Hannah straight in the eye and said, “Thank you, young lady.”It all started with a little girl’s compassion. Now, “Hannah’s Socks” is a full-fledged, volunteer-run nonprofit organization. In the past year alone, more than 9,000 pairs of new socks have been donated, collected and given to men, women and children in shelters in the Toledo and Cincinnati metropolitan areas. To donate socks and learn more about this special group, check out hannahssocks.org.
The reason I am sharing this is because it is so easy to become so desensitized to all that is around us. We are so used to seeing homeless people near the beach, or beggars at stop lights. What can we do? What can we do? It feels like pushing the ocean back with a broom doesn't it. How can we help...the problem is soooo big. We can all be like Hannah, that is what we can do. Believe me, when someone contributes to our non-profit, Children of the Americas, it really touches the heart and soul of a child in Mexico. But, even here, in our own back yard, there are so many needs. Maybe once a month, or every quarter, or once a year... a trip to a shelter with something you have collected. Maybe the kids can save plastic bottles and donate the change to a wonderful cause. A little bit really does help and blesses a soul immensely. Please don't ever think that you can not help, or your little bit won't matter. We have people who donate a $5.00 check to our non-profit when they can. This donation means so much. It comes from the heart and it goes to the children and the children are so blessed.
May God provide for all of your needs and continue to bless you today and always!
Please pray for all of those you come across today. We can not always see...... if they are jobless, homeless, or addicted to something. We don't know what waits for them at home...it might be loneliness. Please keep your brothers and sisters in prayer..... please know that you are so cared for and being prayed for daily too! <><
